Having placed the sonotube to verify the position of the pier, this is what the site looks like looking toward the west.
Same setup still, but looking toward the north.
This is a shot looking down into the pier's footing hole. The deck is being left open still at this point, partly to allow access to back fill this hole once the concrete for the pier is in place. Notice the supports at the top of the footing and the deck level that are holding the sonotube in place.
I am just checking the length of the rebar that we will be inserting into the pier once we pour the concrete. This image also allows you to get an idea of how high the pier will be in relation to the floor of the observatory.
