For the pier, we decided that we would mix our own concrete in a wheel barrow. The wheel barrow was large enough to allow us to mix the fourteen bags of concrete, two at a time. |
| A single shot me slowly mixing the concrete mix with the water. |
We used both a shovel and a bucket to drop the mixed concrete down the sonotube. |
| This is the template that we constructed to hold the j-bolts to ensure that they were positioned correctly. The j-bolts go through a wooden template that capped the pier, with the first of the pier plates on top of that. We of course had spent the last several nights looking for Polaris and measuring its position to fixed landmarks. |

The j-bolts are in position on top of the sonotube. |
| Form created to ensure correct radius when assembling the main rings that form the slit. |

Meanwhile, while the frames are being done, the masonite was being painted, one side white, one side black. |
| All the masonite boards painted white, drying in the sun. |
