We decided that we would install only six of the wall studs to start off with, before placing the top wall ring.
In this shot you can see the initial six wall studs and the top wall ring being tipped up into position.
Once we had the ring in rough position, we pushed and rotated the top wall ring so that the marks, which we had made yesterday while the rings were together on the ground, lined up with the middles of the six initial wall studs. Once the marks were in place, the wall studs were attached to the ring.
With the six initial wall studs in place, we then worked around the wall attaching the rest of the wall studs. We also attached braces approximately halfway up the wall studs to add strength to the walls. In this image, you are looking into the observatory through the door.
This shot shows the completed wall frame from off center. Notice that the braces are at slightly different hights, allowing for them to be nailed in place from the other side.
My wife working on adding the final coat of black stain to the dome's frame.
